She was born July 9, 1930 in McMinn County to the late Henry B. Torbett and Gussie Louise Watson Torbett. She was a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a long standing member of the First Church of God of Englewood, and was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cecil D.P. Torbett; sister and brother-in-law, Grace Marie and J.D. Burris; great-granddaughter, Dixie LeAnn Wood; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oscar and Ida Mae Torbett; and two brothers-in-law, Bill York and William Torbett.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Preston and Glenda Torbett of Englewood, and Stanley Allen and Betty Torbett of Athens; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Yvonne Torbett of Englewood and Leesa Kim and Brian Browning of Maryville; four grandsons, Chris Torbett and Clay Torbett of Florida, Tyler Torbett of Englewood and Nathan Wood of Athens; 8 granddaughters and spouses, Tia and Johnny Chrisman of Englewood, Tara and Dustin McNelley of Etowah, Angie and Don Morrow of Cleveland, Kim and Sammy Duncan of Englewood, Melissa and Bill Mills of Maryville, and Megan Browning, Sarah Browning, and Leigha Browning, all of Maryville; 20 great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Faith, Grace and Hope Torbett of Florida, Josh, Nicholas and Trenton Chrisman of Englewood, Amber and Erika Torbett of Englewood, Christie and Jessica Young, Haley Novick, and Ashton Morrow of Cleveland; Ashley, Cody and Austin Duncan of Englewood, Zachary Wood, and Rhiannon, Ian and Kendall Mills of Maryville; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several deeply loved nephew and nieces.
Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the First Church of God of Englewood with Pastor Kevin Cummins and the Rev. Raymond Clore officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 30th and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. committal service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Church of God of Englewood Building Fund, 1340 Highway 39 E., Englewood, TN 37329.
