M. Kathleen Watson, 93, of Etowah, died early Thursday morning, January 14, 2010 at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home in Etowah. A native of Polk County and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Francis Marion and Mary Belle White Watson. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and was a retired third grade school teacher from the Etowah City School System after 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Francis Claude Watson; an infant sister, Ella Ruth Watson; brothers, Waylon, Wayne, Millard, J.E. and Hugh L. Watson; one sister, Irene Collins; a sister-in-law, Geneva Watson; and a special friend, Dr. C.T. Carroll. Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Betty Watson and Alice Watson, both of Etowah, and Glenn Watson of Valdosta, Gas; several nieces and nephews; and friend and neighbor Dottie Stepp of Etowah. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Mickey Rainwater and the Rev. Ben Roberson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
