Mabeline "Pat" Hovis Derreberry, 86, of Gastonia, NC, passed away, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Life Care Center of Athens. She was a retired beautician and a 40 year member of Unity Baptist Church on Myrte School Rd. in Gastonia, NC. A daughter of the late Giles and Blanche Hovis, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris S. Derreberry; her parents, listed above; brother, Jack Hovis, and sisters, Billie Robinson, Janie Dixon, and Blair Peoples. Survivors include daughter, Donna Derreberry Stewart of Athens, TN; son, Michael M. Derreberry of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Charles M. Stewart and Gregory M. Stewart both of Athens andMichael J. Derreberry of High Point, NC; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea S. Stewart, Isaac I. Tyner and Zachary H. Stewart; sister, Mona Haney of Gastonia, NC; and several nieces and nephews.A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Derreberry Family Cemetery in Marble, NC. Rev. Scott Curtis will officiate. No formal visitation will be held.
