Magalene Bell Pannell,"Maggie", 77 of Etowah passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at Life Care Center of Athens. Maggie was born in Yadkin County, North Carolina on November 25, 1935 to the late George Chester Bell and Cordelia Milner Poindexter. She graduated from George Wythe High School in Wytheville, VA in 1953 and has been a resident of McMinn County for the past 40 years. Preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Edward, Charles, Thomas and Barry Bell. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Clayton Pannell of Etowah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Teresa Pannell of Jacksonville, FL and Otis and Teresa Pannell of Athens; five grandchildren, Megan and Aaron of Jacksonville, FL and George, Cady and Mathew of Athens; eleven brothers and sisters, JC and Betty Bell of Rose Hill, NC, Dorothy and Malvern Wallis of Mondamin, IA, George Bell of the Philippines, Burton and Ya Bell of Omaha, NE, Ronald and Laurie Bell of Mondamin, IA, David and Tammy Bell of Rose Hill, NC, Gary and Sandy Bell of Rose Hill, NC, Linda and Murchison Usher of Rose Hill, NC, Robin Bell of Castle Hayne, NC, Donna Bell and Jim Harrell of Rose Hill, NC, Kenny Bell of Rose Hill, NC, and Danny Bell of Rose Hill, NC; one aunt, Ruth Lovette of Magnolia, NC.Maggie had been a homemaker and active member of the United Methodist Women. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Women at Wesley Memorial, 923 Ohio Ave., Etowah, TN 37331.Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Pierce of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6th at the funeral home and proceed to Green hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m., committal service.
