Mamie Sue Morris, 96, of Englewood, died late Thursday night, Sept. 16, 2010 at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Englewood, she was a daughter of the late John and Ethel Newman Land. She was the oldest living member of Englewood Christian Church. She loved her kids, grandkids and her church, and she loved to quilt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Morris; a daughter, Helen Morris; a sister, Thelma Gay; and a brother, John R. Land. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Lee McAmis of Englewood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Ivy Morris of Coker Creek and Bill and Terri Morris of Englewood; one brother and sister-in-law, J.L. and Hazel Land of Ten Mile; one sister, Polly Cass of Maryville; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18th in the South Chapel with Ministers Larry Tedro, Ron Blevins and David Caffee officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at Cochran Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19th for the committal service.
