IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Jean
Cotham Landers
April 27, 2020
Margaret Jean "Cotham" Landers, age 92, married to the late Albert Gaines Landers, was promoted to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, April 27, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. She was a forty-eight year resident of Etowah, Tennessee.
Margaret was a longtime member of Coghill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, and even sang solos from time to time. She was a devout Christian, with a great concern and hope that all come to believe Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Margaret was born on October 5, 1927 in Linden, Perry County, Tennessee to Bynum and Byrum Cotham. She graduated from Linden High School, excelling in academics and sports. Upon graduation, she attended the Nashville Business College, after being awarded a lifetime scholarship, which landed her a job working for the Governor of Tennessee. Later, she attended the Tennessee State Cosmetology School, and she maintained her license until her promotion. Margaret wore many hats in her life but her greatest joy was being a Wife and Mother to her four children. Besides her deep love for her family, Margaret (Maggie) had many great passions. She loved basketball, fishing, and was an avid golfer. She was a talented seamstress and also had a great passion for gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Albert Landers (married 56 years), two sisters and brothers-in-law, J.B. and Dorothy Dean Anderson, and Don and Doris Ann (Sister) Parnell and James (Brother) Cotham; also, brothers-in-law, Robert Landers, John Squibb and sister-in-law, Martha Squibb, and sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Landers.
Survivors include three sons, Doug Landers, Mark Landers, and Peter Landers and wife Ellen; one daughter, Julia Edwards and husband Randy; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Landers and Mrs. James (Linda) Cotham; her grandchildren, Chad, Kansas, Courtney, Emilee, Madeline, and Randy, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Drake, Kennedy, Ellasyn, Emersyn, Chase, Rachel, Kailee, Ryder, Spencer, Cameron, and Landry; several nieces and nephews living all around the country.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Cleason Peel, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Hamby, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Brock for all of their help and care watching over Margaret.
Memorial/Graveside service will be announced at a later date
