Margaret Burnette Newman, 74, of Delano, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Lucille Burnette; daughter, Janet Alisa; and brother, Glen Burnette. She attended Coghill Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Wendell "Dusty" Newman, whom she loved dearly; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Ernie Droke of Etowah; precious grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan and Abby, all of Etowah; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margie and Wayne Mull and Elaine and John Ward, all of Cleveland, and Evelyn Scroggins of Plattsburg, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Harold Curtis and the Rev. Joe Hatcher officiating.The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 11 a.m. committal service. David Ward, Marvin Newman, Steve Newman, Kevin Newman and Mike Brock will serve as pallbearers.The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga TN 37416.
