Martha "Frances" Bowers Coleman, 83, of Etowah, TN went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend; she was a lifelong member of Conasauga Baptist Church in Etowah.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She had a quick and warm smile for everyone and a great sense of humor. She was an incredible cook and everyone enjoyed her famous banana pudding, oatmeal, meatloaf, and fried okra.
Her daily walk through life exemplified her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ and her love for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Jeanette Hudson Bowers; brother, Jay Bowers; sisters, Ruby Dillard, Georgia Green, Willa Dean McLemore, and Eldora Bowers.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Arnold Lee Coleman; children, Larry Coleman (Mary Ann), Rebecca Penney (John), Alice Boles (Willis), and Wilma Proffitt (Jim); granddaughters, Ashley Burchfield (Cody), Diana Short (Zach), Kate Hamilton (Tanner), and Grace Proffitt; great-granddaughter, Emory Short; and sister-in-law Gladys Bowers.
The family would like to thank two of her caregivers, Brenda Curry and Paula Strickland, for the excellent care they gave to her; and also extend many thanks to the employees of Avalon Hospice, Knoxville for their excellent care and attention.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2022, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Best and Rev. Fred Tate officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Monday prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service in Mars Hill Cemetery.
