Mary Ruth Burger, age 95, passed away at 6:00AM as she slept in Dunedin, FL.  Mary Ruth, the daughter of John Luther Onbey and Marchie May Massengale Onbey, was born at home on the Old Chestnut Farm in Etowah, TN.  August 1938 she married the late James Henderson Burger in Murray County, GA.  Mary worked at the Ridge Textile Mill in Athens for many years.  Mary moved to Marietta, GA where she donate a kidney to her daughter, Deloris.  While in Marietta Mary earned an Early Childhood Certificate from Kennesaw College.  She loved working with children and was employed in child care until retirement.  Mary was a loving mother, a devout Christian, and a champion for children.

Mary is survived by daughter, Glenda Burger Parker, Palm Harbor, FL, son, James Daniel Burger, Athens, TN; and sister, Naomi Onbey Feezell, Athens, TN; grandchildren Nicholas Webb, Riceville, TN, Angie Bartolo, Chattanooga, TN, William Hetrick, Bloomington, IN, Lynda Arroyo, Swaziland, Africa, Paul Campbell, Cumming, GA, and Melissa Keeney, Acworth, GA;   Mary has 9 great-grandchildren, 5 great –great- grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by daughters, Joyce Burger Simmons and Deloris Burger Campbell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30PM, Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Bordwine Funeral Home, Etowah, TN.  The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 2:30PM prior to the service.
