Mary Wells Cornett, 72, of Athens passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Starr Regional Medical Center of Athens. She was a native of Michigan, and daughter of the late Travis and Verna Townley and she attended Rocky Mount Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ronnie and Rayford Townley; and sister, Deloris Hopson.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Cornett of Athens; 5 daughters, Lorrie Ann Wells of Athens, Donna Lingerfelt of Athens, Faye Wells of Athens, Kaye Dingess of Etowah and Cristi Wells of Athens; grandchildren, Elijah Watson, Justin Howard, Gary Carter, Jamie Carter, Stephinie Wilson, Beth Collins, Jeremy Bryan, Will Robinson, MaryAnne Wells, and Kadon Byrd; great-grandchildren, Brent Bowman, Ellie Wilson, Waylon Collins, Aryana Watson, Keegan Watson, Addyson Watson and Michael Watson; and brother, Raymond Townley of Michigan.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with grandson, Justin Howard officiating. Interment will follow service in Green Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15th in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
