Mary Ruth Jenkins Green, 84, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in Etowah, TN. A native of Calhoun, she lived in McMinn County all of her life. Married for over sixty two years to Scott Green, she was an incredibly loving, faithful and caring wife and mother.

Family was the love of her life, and supporting her husband and children kept her engaged with many things that created a loving environment for each of them. As her children grew up, she developed a special love of caring for elderly and homebound individuals. In every relationship, she modeled servant hood and Christ likeness.

Until her health failed her, she reached out both her hands in constant helpfulness to many people. When she was no longer able to serve others, she was blessed by the loving attention of special friend and caretaker JoAnn Johnson and the staff of McMinn Memorial Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Elizabeth Jenkins, brother, G. Goldman Jenkins, brother and sister-in-law, Oran and Louise Jenkins and grandson Steven Jared Green.

Survivors include husband Scott Green; children: Kay (Randy) Brock; Carol (Bob Watts) Green; Steven (Peggy) Green; and David (Katie) Green. Grandchildren: Alan (Jennifer) Brock, Kathryn (Ryan) Stamey; Douglas Watts, Nathan (Amanda) Watts; Scottie (Tonya) Green, Misty (Keith) Prock, Heather (Steve) Massingill, Jason Murphy; Garrett and Landon Green. Great grandchildren include Addison Brock, Avery Stamey, Leah Hall, Dylan Green, Zachary Prock, Jake Prock, Connor Britton, and Brooklyn Murphy; several nieces and nephews

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and knew Christ as her Savior. Today, she celebrates a new life in heaven. A service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 7:00 PM at Bordwine Funeral Home in Etowah with Bro. Rick Atkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 PM, Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the funeral home and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 2:00 PM committal service.
