Obituary

Mary Roselyn Lee, 85, of Englewood, went to be with her Lord Saturday morning, December 24, 2016. Mary was the first daughter born to Byron and Constance Hall in Mannington, West Virginia, April 29, 1931. She had been a resident of McMinn County since 1955.

Mary was a 1952 graduate of Baptist Bible Institute in Cleveland, Ohio, and a 1955 graduate of Bryan College, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Mary taught Bible in both McMinn and Meigs Counties public schools for many years. She was also active in teaching Bible in Sunday School at First Baptist Church, Athens, First Baptist Church, Etowah, First Baptist Church, Englewood, and Chestua Baptist Church, Madisonville. She served many summers at Camp Cherokee with Girl's Camp, and hosted an after-school Bible Club for children at her residence.

Mary gave her heart to Jesus as a young girl in Mannington, and began teaching Bible as a 10 year old. She graduated Mannington High School, in 1949. While teaching Bible in McMinn County Schools she met her husband of 6 years, Elwin Talbot. They resided in Athens until his passing December 27, 1966. They had three children, Dwight, Melanie, and Byron.

Mary Roselyn married Carl Lee in June of 1970, and moved to the Lee Dairy Farm near Englewood. She remained active in Bible teaching, and was host for many years of "Farm Day" for children in McMinn County Schools. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, devoting herself wholly to the good of her family and church. Truly her life emanated the love she had for her Lord in the way that she loved her family and friends. She was a servant at heart, and this was her joy!

Mary enjoyed quilting as was the tradition she grew up with in West Virginia. She made many beautiful quilts over the years and was also gifted in sewing. She quilted with the Sunshine Club at First Baptist Englewood. Mary loved to garden! Ever efficient in caring for her family, she canned and put up food in the basement and freezer. She also gardened various plants and flowers, gladiolas particularly, and her yard was always beautifully landscaped. Mary provided floral arrangements for Chestua Baptist Church for many years.
