Mary Ella Tallent, 86 of Englewood passed away at Athens Place on December 17, 2019.

She is a daughter of the late David and Dessie Crye.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ray Tallent; son, Tim Tallent; sisters, Sue Stewart and Verna Anderson; and brother, Richard Crye.

She was an avid quilter and received several first place ribbons for her quilts; her and her husband helped found Tri-County Center in Athens; she loved gardening, flowers and taking care of her children. A member of Englewood First Baptist Church and the Sunshine Quilting Club.

Survivors include her daughter Cindy Tallent of Athens; brother, Elmer Crye and wife, Ruth; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Sheffey and husband, Charles; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thanks to Athens Place for all the care and concern they gave to Mrs. Tallent.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2019 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Maples officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Conasauga Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to be made to Tri-County Center, P.O. Box 793, Athens, TN 3737.

Eddie Carson, Andrew Carson, Jim Taylor, Kenneth Jack, Bobby Chastain and Parker Chastain will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Herman Thompson.
