A native of Jellico, Tenn., and resident of Caryville most of his life, he was a son of the late Matt FitzhughMarion and Margaret Bruce Welch Marion Allman. He spent his youth in Etowah, where he was a member of the Etowah Pile Drivers football team. He spent 20 years with the state park service, and 30 years with Holiday Inn of Caryville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McClary Masden; and a brother, Don Marion.
He was greatly loved by his survivors, three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jim Chadwell of Caryville, Donna and Richard Byrd of Clarksville, and Dr. Jenny and Dr. David Byrd of Athens; grandchildren, Kim Campbell and spouse, Dr. Keith Campbell, Jamey Chadwell and spouse Solmaz Chadwell, Jonathon Chadwell, Kristin Byrd, Wes Byrd, Matthew Todd Marion and friend, Lauren Smith, Katie Byrd and Will Byrd; great grandchildren, Collins McClary and Bennett Campbell, Ansley Byrd, and Dalton, Levi and Steel Marion; and he was greatly loved by his canine companion, Maggie.
Family and friends will assemble at Green Hill Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 for graveside service, with military honors. The Rev. Charles Dawn will officiate.
There will be no visitation held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake City United Methodist Church, 220 4th Street, Lake City, TN 37769.
Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah in charge of arrangements.
