Obituary

Maxine Nichols, 91, of Delano, TN passed away, Friday, November 11, 2011 with family and friends at her side. Maxine was a native of Polk County, born November 23, 1919 to Tom and Alva Burnett Harbison. She was a lifelong member of Wetmore Baptist Church where she was the oldest member, and she retired from Benton Manufacturing. She enjoyed gardening, canning, Quilting and cooking for her family.Maxine was preceded in death by her former husband's, Norman Akins and James Rual Nichols; parents, Tom and Alva Burnett Harbison; 2 brothers, Avery Lee Harbison and Charles Kenneth Harbison. Survivors include, 2 children and spouses, Norman "Dude" and Eny Akins of Benton, TN, Jennifer and Russell Chastain of Delano, TN; 7 grandchildren, Keith and Suzanne Akins, Joe Akins, Amy and Chris Williams, Melissa and Josh Stone, Rusty and Lee Ann Chastain, Loren Chastain, Jason and Ashli Schwerdtfeger; 10 great-grandchildren, Avery Akins, Ashleigh Akins, Zach Akins, Alex Akins, Brock Raper, Sara Williams, Brad Williams, Blake Stone, Ashlyn Stone and Brinlee Schwerdtfeger; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Lois Harbison from Harrison, TN; Special friend, Ethelene Harbison. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Wetmore Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Earl officiating, interment to follow to Green Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service.
