Mayme Florene Plumley King Melton, 91, of Etowah, TN, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at Starr Regional Nursing Home.

Mayme grew up loving to play softball and basketball. She passed that love of sports onto her children and grandchildren therefore, Mayme could always be found cheering on and supporting her children and grandchildren in all their sports or extracurricular activities. Mayme never met a stranger and made many friends along life's way. She was a loving, kind wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Mary Plumley; her first husband, Boyd King; great grandson, David Heath King; daughter, Dianne King Perian; siblings, Lillie Evans, Ethelene McCuiston, Jane Brown, Ada Stewart, Jean Albritton, Milburn Plumley, Walter Plumley, Carl "Bozo" Plumley, Jimmy Plumley, Melvin Plumley.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 58 years, Knox Melton; daughters, Janice Lankford, Nancy King, Sherra Melton; son and daughter-in-law, Chase and Brittany Melton; grandchildren and spouses, Billie and Jacob "Roscoe" Starr, Mary and Chris Smallwood, Jared and Jennifer King and Leanna King and Tony Taylor; adopted grandson and spouse,  Nick and Eva Giordano; special niece Christy Baker; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00p.m., Monday, December 2, 2024, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Pearman and Pastor Chris Shaw officiating.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at Bordwine Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3rd at 10:00a.m. and go in procession to Delano Cemetery for the 11:00a.m. committal service.

Nick Giordano, Jacob "Roscoe" Starr, Chase Melton, Jared King, Ayden Lankford, Skyler Sizemore and Chris Smallwood will serve as pallbearers.

Jeff Stewart, Billy Perian, Carlin Stewart, Jeff Morris, Roy Baker and Tony Taylor will serve as honorary pallbearers.
