Melvin B. (Mel) Moates of Tallahassee, FL. age 78, passed away on Tuesday January 7, 2020.  He was born in Etowah, TN on July 13 1941 to the late Charles H. Moates and Blanche Silvers Moates.  He married his bride Joody C. Burger on Sept.17, 1960.  They were married for 59 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. After the Air Force he worked for Chrysler Financial for 30 years.

Melvin is survived by his wife Joody C. Moates, his daughters Angie Moates and Tracy Moates Wampler (J.D.), three grandchildren Christopher L. Williams (Darla), Daniel Noah Gee and Christina Rean'e Gee, nephews (like brothers) Jerry Moates (Nancy) and Eddie Moates, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17 ^th at Green Hill Cemetery, Etowah, TN with Military Honors and Dennis Bordwine officiating.
