Mike Byers, 71, of Etowah, TN passed away, Sunday, April 26, 2026. Born on March 16, 1955, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, Mike lived a life marked by love, devotion, and deep family ties.
Mike was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather—roles he cherished above all else. His presence will be profoundly missed by those whose lives he touched with kindness and care
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly Whalen Byers, and their daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Jesse VanDerveer. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Allesandra and Aaron VanDerveer, who remain a living legacy of his love.
Mike’s family extended to his mother, Betty Byers; brothers Tim and Jerry Byers, both accompanied by their wives Darlene and Kathy; and his sister, Aletha Jo Whitehead. He was a cherished uncle to nieces Lakaisha, Kiara, EzzieBell, Alisha, and Destiny, and nephews TJ and Jamison Byers, alongside several other nieces and nephews.
Connections through marriage also enriched his life, including sister-in-law and brother-in-law pairs Sue and Al English, Kim Whitehair, and Tommy Whalen, all of whom share in the grief of his passing.
Mike was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Aaron Byers, and by his father, Clarence Byers. Also, Jamie Byers, a nephew who has gone before them.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2026, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at Bordwine Funeral Home, Friday May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., and go in procession to Green Hill Cemetery for 11:00 a.m. committal service.
