Morris Gladstone Hammonds, Jr., 76 of Athens, TN passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018. He is a son of Neva Moses Hammonds and the late Gad Hammonds, Sr. He taught school for 17 years at McMinn Central High School; he was a carpenter and worked at Bowater's. He was a member and deacon of New Zion Baptist Church

Preceded in death by his father; brother, Bill Hammonds; brother-in-law, Jim Constant.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Billie Rose Price Hammonds;
children and their spouses, Shannon Frazier, Marty and LeAnn Hammonds, Carmen and Doug Fugate, Russell and Sherrie Hammonds; grandchildren, Lindsey and husband Jerid Womac, Matthew and wife Allyson Frazier, Chelsea and husband Andy Jones, Parker Fugate, Sherilyn Hammonds, Henry Hammonds, Karli Hammonds, Sam Hammonds and Jordan Hammonds; great-grandchildren, Macy Frazier, Mia Frazier, Lexi Womac, Zeke Womac and Reid Jones; Mother, Neva Sue Hammonds; sister, Patty Constant; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan and Jamie Hammonds, Chip and Tammy Hammonds; sister-in-law, Ann Hammonds; a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Stan Hammonds and Rev. Michael Coleman officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at New Zion Cemetery, Sunday, January 7th for the 2:00 p.m. committal service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Matthew Frazier, Parker Fugate, Henry Hammonds, Sam Hammonds, Jerid Womac and Andy Jones.
