Nelsie Waldrop Sisson, a resident of Etowah, passed away in a Knoxville hospital on Friday, September 5, 2025, only a few weeks short of her 90th birthday.

She was born in Polk County on October 25, 1935, the second of three daughters of Biggs and Lura Qualls Waldrop.

She was a 1953 graduate of Polk County High School. A lifelong resident of Polk and McMinn Counties. She worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper for insurance agencies in Etowah and Benton before retiring from State Farm Insurance in Etowah. She had been a member of Mountain View Baptist Church; Delano Baptist Church, which she served as church clerk for several years and at various times as a pulpit committee and building committee member; and North Etowah Baptist Church. She was a member of Wetmore Baptist Church at the time of her death.

She enjoyed reading, cooking and housekeeping, crossword puzzles and computer solitaire, and she loved drives on country roads, sitting on the front porch, and spending time with her family. She was a quiet person with a surprising and delightfully wry sense of humor, and she loved intensely.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Wanda Crump and Phyllis Smith, and by an infant brother, Paul Edmond Waldrop.

She was married for more than 65 years to Glenn Sisson, who survives her. She is also survived by her son, Roger Sisson, and by several extended family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9th at Wetmore Baptist Church, 9801 Highway 411, Delano, Tennessee 37325 with Pastor Will Vest officiating

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

Family and friends will assemble at Green Hill Cemetery, Wednesday, September 10th for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
