Nick Warf, 64, of Etowah, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Born May 7, 1947, in Big Stone Gap, Va., he worked as a mechanical master craftsman at Johns Manville. A son of Orpha Lou Buckles Warf and the late Claude Elmer Warf, he was a member of Woodward Church of God. His first love was Jesus and sharing the gospel with anyone who would listen. His second love was family. He enjoyed being with his friends, fishing and playing golf. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude E. Warf; one sister, Linda Upchurch; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Nancy Pope. Survivors include his wife, Donna Warf of Etowah; one daughter, Jessica Mankin and her husband, Rocky, of Smyrna; one grandson, Luke Mankin of Smyrna; his mother, Orpha Warf of Etowah; one brother, Steve Warf and his wife, Sherry, of Etowah; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Paula Pope of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Lee Roy Pope Jr. of Blountville; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith and Brenda Fogleman of New Orleans, La.; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Keith Gray and the 12E nursing staff at U.T. Medical Center for their exceptional care and support. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Cliff Waters officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.Friends will serve as pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
