Nina Marie Derrick Woody Thomas, 82, of Englewood, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Woods Memorial Hospital. A daughter of the late Houston and Lou Ella Derrick, she was a resident of McMinn County for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Woody; her second husband, Clay Thomas; two brothers, Bill Derrick and Joe Derrick; four sisters, Frances Morrow, Dulcie Moses, Gussie Martin and Lillian Key; and one grandson, Travis Woody. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Mary Woody of Calhoun, Joe and Linda Jo Woody of Lake Worth, Fla., and Randy and C.K. Woody of Etowah; one daughter, Dale Sisson of Cleveland; one granddaughter and spouse, Stephanie and Matthew Riffey; three grandsons and two spouses, Chase Woody, Adam and Laura Woody and Rodney and Michelle Higgins; great-grandchildren, Courtney Guffey, Ashlyn, Emma and Makenna Woody, J.J. and Gavin Higgins, Katie Woody and Emma Grace and Brylee Riffey; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Bernice Runion, Lucy Gay and Judy and Harold Tallent; one brother and sister-in-law, Sherman and Alice Derrick; and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Layspeaker Bill Womac officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home and will proceed to Prospect Cemetery for the burial at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Chase Woody, Rodney Higgins, J.J. Higgins, Courtney Guffey, Jamie Buckner and Adam Woody. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Prospect Cemetery, c/o Ruth Brown, 632 Athens Pike, Etowah, TN 37331.
