Obituary

Oran Jenkins, 87, of Lenoir City, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Ft. Loudon Medical Center in Lenoir City. A resident of Etowah and McMinn County for over 80 years, most recently in west Knoxville and Lenoir City, he was a son of the late C.H. and Lizzie Firestone Jenkins. He was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Etowah for over 50 years. Oran worked in the hardware business for the majority of his life, working several years at the old Etowah Hardware Store, and then over 20 years at Cherokee Hardware in Athens until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Louise Tallent Jenkins, and a brother Grover Goldman Jenkins. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ray Blevins of Lenoir City; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Pat Jenkins of Lenoir City; two granddaughters and spouses, Emily and Abe Azziz of Athens, and Callie and Brian Casey of Franklin; three grandsons and spouses, Derek and Ashley Jenkins of Sweetwater, Brandon and Clarissa Newman of Spring Hill and Brian and Sandra Newman of Knoxville; one great-granddaughter, Lucy Jenkins of Sweetwater; one great-grandson, Crosby Azziz of Athens; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Scott Green of Etowah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to say a very special thank you to the facilities of NHC Farragut and Baptist Healthcare Lenoir City for their exceptional love and care provided to Oran and Louise during their last years. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. There will be a private burial at Green Hill Cemetery.
