A native of Athens, and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late James Artice and Pansie Malone Dockins. She was a nurse for over 30 years, and was a former employee of Athens Regional Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith, and was preceded in death by a brother, Van Scott Dockins; a nephew, Steve Chrisman; father-in-law, Warren H. Cornett Sr.; mother-in-law, Mamie Lee Cornett; brother-in-law, Doug Chrisman; and three sisters-in-law, Frankie Sue Bohannon, Vickie Ellen Dawson and Kathy Wilson.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Rick Cornett; one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Malita Cornett; one daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Dwayne Johnson; three grandchildren, Colin Cornett, Abbey Delay and Bubba Delay; one sister, Hornia Chrisman; one brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Sandee Dockins; one sister-in-law, Alma Dean Finley; a great-aunt, Laurie Buckner; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Patty Harrill.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. No formal visitation or service will be held.
