Patsy Lovelace Frye passed peacefully on May 29th in Saratoga, California. Pat, formerly of Bradenton, Florida is mourned by her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Dr. William Kenneth Frye of Bradenton, Florida and formerly of Etowah, Tennessee.
Patsy was a loving mother, nanna and sister. She is survived by daughters, Laura Frye of Dallas, Texas, Catherine Frye of Campbell, California and Libby Thomas of Palos Verdes Estates, California; sons-in-law, Ross Myers, Joachim Limburg and Michael Thomas; grandchildren, Shelby, Chandler, Reese, William and Dylan; brother, William Lovelace of Etowah, Tennessee, his wife Maryruth and son Jeff; sister-in-law, Carol Hutsell of Athens, Tennessee and her daughters, Nancy, Janet and Diane; nephew, Gordon Marks and family of Brandon, Florida; nieces, Carol Wright and Jenny Mahoney; and second cousin, Thomas Perkins of Bradenton, Florida; and third cousin, Tom Perkins of Los Angeles, California.
Pat lived a vibrant, fulfilled life with love for her family, church and community. Pat was born in Etowah, Tennessee on June 27th, 1929 and attended Etowah Junior High School where she was valedictorian and graduated from Maryville College's East Tennessee Baptist Hospital, School for Nursing in 1951. She later worked at the VA Hospital in Memphis. She married Kenneth in 1953 and worked with him at his early practice in Benton, Tennessee. Pat was a force of nature always giving back tirelessly to the community with lengthy volunteerism to her children's schools and her churches. Pat was president of the Niota Medical Auxiliary and a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Etowah, Tennessee in the 1960s. After moving to Bradenton, Florida in 1970, Pat became the first president of the newly established St Stephen's Episcopal School's Parents Club. She ran the school's concession stand and started the school's first lunch program. She was a member of the Debutante Program Committee of Sarasota & Manatee Counties, benefitting the youth programs of the Sarasota Orchestra for many years, starting in 1984 and she was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Manatee County. After she moved to her beloved Anna Maria Island, she devoted nearly 15 years to nurturing the success of Christ Episcopal Church's Budget Box, helping fund the church's outreach programs in the greater community and was an active member of the church's St. Anne's Guild.
Pat never knew a stranger and always had a smile on her face. Pat loved her dear friends and traveled with them in later years to Europe and Asia to see and enjoy other people and cultures.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Athens, Tennessee at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 with Rev. RJ Powell officiating. Interment will follow service to Green Hill Cemetery. A celebration of Pat's life memorial service will also be held in Bradenton, Florida in February, 2017.
