Obituary

Phyllis Ann McNelley, 52, of Benton, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Woods Memorial Hospital. A native of McMinn County, she was born Oct. 13, 1958. She was a member of Delano Baptist Church, where she played the piano, sang in the choir and also performed solos. She also taught children's worship, which she dearly loved, and was retired from Bowater Southern Paper Corporation. A daughter of Alberta "Bert" Williams and the late Hoyt Frazier Williams, she was preceded in death by one son, Chase Anderson McNelley; one brother, Hoyt David Williams; one nephew, Anthony Drake Williams; her father-in-law, Fred J. McNelley; and her grandparents, Horce Anderson Peal Williams and Lena Mae Williams and Clyde and Marchie Stephens. Her love, besides her family, was gardening and flowers. Survivors include her husband, Ricky Lynn McNelley of Benton; one son and daughter-in-law and soon-to-be grandchild, Dustin Hunter, Tara McNelley and Chase Alexander McNelley; her mother, Alberta "Bert" Williams; one brother and sister-in-law, Austin and Robin Williams; two brothers-in-law, Douglas and Larry McNelley; her mother-in-law, Nina Ruth McNelley; three nephews, Jason Williams and Ashley Duggan, Jared Williams and Julie Dennis and Jordan Clark; a special cousin, Casey Deann Reynolds; and two great-nieces, Kamdyn and Kendal Williams. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday at Delano Baptist Church with the Rev. John Powers and Chris Stewart officiating. Family and friends will assemble Sunday, July 24th at Brock Cemetery,located at Mountain View Baptist Church, for the 4 p.m. burial. Pallbearers will be Jason and Jared Williams, Shane Reynolds, Tony Hitch, Kyle Trotter and Eddie Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrel Bottoms and Scott Stephens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chase McNelley Memorial Scholarship Fund, Alpha Gamma Rho Educational Foundation, 10101 North Ambassador Dr., Kansas City, MO 64153; or online at http://alphagammarho.org/foundation and designate to Chase McNelley Memorial Scholarship Fund.
