Rachel Marie Brittain, 82 of Etowah, TN passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at her residence from a long time illness.
A longtime residence of Northern VA. She retired as a key data operator for Bakery and Confectioners Workers Union and a graduate of Sullivan High School Kingsport, TN. Her interests were music and playing the piano. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Proceded in death by her husband,William James Brittian; son, Keith Gochenour; parents; and sister, Betty Hood.
Survivors include son, Todd A. Gochenour of Etowah; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Angela Brittain of Fredrick, MD, Andrew Brittain of Marblehead, MA and Fred Brittain of Sterling, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Esther Brittain and Tom Atelsek of Fredrick, MD; sister-in-law, Joann Crawford of Easton, PA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John C. and JoAnne Brittain of Pittsburgh, PA; half brother-in-law, David Brittain of Sugarland, TX; brothers, R.C. Sprinkle, Jr. of Etowah, TN and Jimmy L. Sprinkle, Sr. of Barboursville, VA; 6 grandchildren, Kira, Jillian, Ben, Luke, James and Joseph; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Thank you to Amedysis Hospice staff, Dr. Komal Kirpekar, Nurse, Sherry and Dr. Ousama Dabbagh.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Chaplain Mike Jackson officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
