Obituary

Ralph Carroll, 95, of Englewood, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Etowah Health Care Center in Etowah, TN

A son of the late Alfred Burns and Elba Doris Patterson Carroll, he was born November 2, 1924 in Tellico Plains and was a resident of Englewood most of his life. He was a well known wood worker, carpenter and construction worker. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening; he loved the great outdoors, especially the Tellico Mountains and the nature and wild life of East Tennessee. He attended First Baptist Church of Englewood until his health declined and was unable to attend. He was a sixty year plus member and past Master of the Englewood Masonic Lodge No. 633, member and past president of Chilhowee Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post #5146 and American Legion Post # 68. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Philippines. He was a Corporal with the 389 th field Artillery Battalion, 82 nd Infantry Division in the Special Troops Quartermaster Company.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Faye Burger Carroll on August 2, 2005; two brothers, Bernice Carroll of Englewood, Frank Carroll of Madisonville; and sister, Louise Stanton of Athens.

Survivors include his daughter Kaye and son-in-law Steve McCaslin (who seemed like his own son to him) of Englewood; the pride and joy of his life, his treasured grandchildren, Blake and wife Julie McCaslin of Englewood, Kressa and husband John Stewart of Knoxville; especially close to his heart were his beloved great-grandchildren, Kyndal, Elyse and Cole Stewart, Adra and Elliott McCaslin; also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sue Carroll of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal visitation. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25 th at Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood with Steve McCaslin delivering the eulogy. Due to the Covid-19 regulations, we ask that you minimize direct contact, avoid shaking hands and refrain from physical contact with members of the family.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve McCaslin, Blake McCaslin, John Stewart, Jerry Carroll, David Carroll, Johnny McGrew and Randy Cockrell.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the administration, nurses and staff of Etowah Health Care Center for the loving care they provided, especially during his final days.
