Obituary

Randy Sitzlar, 77, passed away on June 4, 2026 at his home in Etowah, TN following a courageous battle against cancer. His family was blessed to be by his side during the time leading up to his departure.

Randy loved taking the jeep for a drive through the mountains, hitting thrift stores and yard sales with his wife, Shirl, and quietly helping others who were less fortunate. He loved God, America, our flag, our military, and his family. He was a proud lifetime member of the NRA and was a licensed operator with the local McMinn County Amateur Radio Club, following in the footsteps of his late dad.

Randy retired as a Chief Yardmaster from the L&N/CSX RR after 42 years of service.

Randy leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 57 years, Shirley Murphy Sitzlar; children and spouses, Shane and Tammy Sitzlar, Brooke and Steven Bryan; grandchildren, Cole, Ethan, Haley, Kylie and Wisna; sister and brother-in-law, Joanna and Charlie England. He also has many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Faye Watson Sitzlar of Etowah.

Per Randy’s request, no formal services will be held.

The family would like to thank Dr. Vickie Turnbough and Macy with Caris Hospice Services for their compassion and care during this difficult time.

Randy, you were a faithful husband, great dad and grandfather, fun to be around, a helper in time of need and just an all around good man. We love you, miss you already and we’ll see you later.
