Raymond L. McCurdy Jr., 88, of Athens, TN, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Raymond was born on October 15, 1923, and was the son of the late Raymond L. Sr. and Mae McCurdy. He was a member of Riceville First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Martha Evelyn McCurdy; 1 son, Joel D. McCurdy; 1 sister, Margarette Horn; and 1 brother, Leonard McCurdy.Survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Gary Young of Naples, FL, Brenda and Ken Mashburn of Limestone, TN, and Teresa and Jerry Green of Athens; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Bud and Karen McCurdy of Knoxville, TN; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2011, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy MacMurray officiating. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble Monday, November 14th at New Bethel Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m., Committal Service.
