Richard E. Raper, 86 of Athens, TN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

He was of the Baptist Faith and was a 33 degree Mason of the Meriden Sun Lodge #50 for over 50 years and a Shriner.

Preceded in death by his parents, Pryor and Claudia Raper.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Sue Raper; 2 daughters, Carolyn Raper, Ann Raper and Steve Brakebill; many special friends and several cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Cochran Cemetery with Pastor Justin Brown officiating. At his request, no formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38101-9908, Zion Hill Baptist Church, 269 Co. Rd. 516, Englewood, TN 37329 or to a charity of your choice.
