Obituary

Rickey Dean Morgan, 58, of Athens, TN passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and brother. He is proceded in death by his father, R. D. Morgan and mother, Aileen Underdown Morgan.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sue "Suzie" Morgan, his Daughter Casey Morgan Eisenmenger and fiancé Jeremy Parsons; son, Justin Morgan and wife Amanda all from Athens; step-daughter, Nikki Turner and husband Jeremy of Sevierville, TN; step-daughter, Julie Sneed of Athens; 7 grandchildren; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Swannie Morgan, Tony and Karen Morgan, Mack and Kim Morgan, and Roger Scott and Darlene Morgan all of Athens; numerous special nieces and nephews.

Rick was of Baptist faith and member of North Etowah Baptist Church.

Rick battled numerous health issues including kidney failure since 1978 but always, always had a positive demeanor and a smile on his face. He received 2 kidney transplants the last one lasting 24 years. His family always told him that he never met a stranger and that was very apparent over the last few days in this recent illness. Rick was a carpenter and built many homes in the area where he left his mark. He enjoyed outdoor sports, loved riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing and playing where he met and made many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Rick was a loving, caring person and was ready to meet his Lord and Savior.

Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Brother Mark Wade and Dr. Gerald Atkins officiating. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 10:00 a.m., committal service.

Pallbearers will Sam Runyan, Ronnie "Shag" Thompson, Lynn Wampler, Jerry Haney, David Francis and Byron Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Boyd, Robert Morgan, Jerry Standridge, Jimmy Robinson, Wayne Thompson, Danny Givens, Daryl Hash and Danny Withrow.
