Robert Ural Bivens, 71 of Athens born August 4, 1945 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. His family was with him and his daughter was holding his hand till he passed.

He was a loving person, wonderful father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle and brother-in-law. He was of the Baptist Faith and an active member of New Zion Baptist Church for 43 years. He enjoyed going to church; He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Quinton Bivens and Minnie Lucille Bivens. Left to cherish him in memory, 1 daughter, Penny Ann Veals and husband, Scott Veals; 1 grandson Reece Veals; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Benny and Patsy Bivens of Englewood; nieces, Sarah Hensley and husband Mark, Robin Casteel and husband, Jerry of Athens, Angela Peterson and husband Ken; nephew, Allen Quay Bivens of Nashville, TN

Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Triplett and Rev. Robert Hatcher officiating. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the funeral home and proceed to New Zion Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.Thomas Hazelwood, Ken Peterson, Glenn Triplett, Louie Bryan, Jerome Bryan and Quay Bivens will serve as pallbearers.
