Robert Lee "Bob" McClary, 90 of Etowah, TN passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Etowah Starr Regional Medical Center. Bob was born in Benton, TN and the son of the late Andy and Mintie McClary.
Preceded in death by his wife, Adela Helen Wachta McClary; brothers, HM, Paul, and Gene McClary; sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Nell Higgins.
Survivors include sister, Ruth Ann Lowery of Vaiden, MS; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Alice McClary of Franklin, TN, Richard and Shahrzad McClary of Regensburg, Germany; grandchildren, Cain, Elizabeth, Harrison and Tydings.
Bob attended Tennessee Tech University and graduated with an Agriculture Degree from the University of Tennessee. Following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy, then attended Officers Candidate School in Newport, RI where he met his future wife, Adele. Bob eventually received an honorable discharge from the US Naval Reserves after achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Bob and his wife Adele owned and operated McClary's Etowah Hardware from March 1957 until its sale in September of 2015. On December 3rd, 2015 The State of Tennessee House of Representatives issued a Proclamation saluting Bob & Adele and McClary's Etowah Hardware for over 50 years of business operations dedicated to serving the needs of the Etowah community.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Starr Regional Rehabilitation Center of Etowah for their loving care.
Funeral Services will be private and there will be no formal visitation..
