Robert L. "Bob" Shugart, 77, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at his home in Claxton surrounded by his loving family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Laster and Stella Brown Shugart; brother, Jimmy Shugart; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Georgie Belle Waldrop; brothers-in-law, Willard Waldrop and Frank Waldrop; sisters-in-law, Georgia Elsie Waldrop, Margaret Wampler and Wilma Waldrop; nephew, Mike Wampler.

He was an active member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church for over 50 years; an avid golfer and UT fan. He excelled in football, baseball and basketball in high school. He retired from CSX after 42 years of service; after retirement, a special "thank you' to Brian and Tammy Ford for allowing him to work at Ridgewood Golf Club for many years.

He is Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen Waldrop Shugart; son, Mitchell "Bo" Shugart and his wife, Stephanie; daughter, Kim Farris and her husband Bobby; grandchildren, Kaci Duggan and her husband Jake, Wes Farris and his wife Emilee, Matthew Shugart; two great-grandsons, Hayden Norman and Jaxson Farris; brother, Bill Shugart; sisters-in-law, Ann Waldrop, Katherine Willis, Janie and Wilton Richesin, Charlcia and Robert Baker; brother-in-law, Leonard Waldrop; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very special friend, Bobby "Cotton" Kyker.

A very special "thank you" to his hospice nurses, Carrie Wetzel and Jessica Acker and the staff of Amedisys.

Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. John Crabtree officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Leonard Waldrop, Robert Baker, Wilton Richesin and Cotton Kyker will serve as pallbearers.
