Roy Quay Mayfield, 76, of Etowah, TN, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at UT Medical Center. He is the son of the late King David "Dave" and Lizzie Jane Mayfield and a member of Old Salem Baptist Church. Proceded in death by 3 brothers, James Daniel Mayfield, David Carroll Mayfield and Walter Raymond Mayfield; 2 sisters, Dorothy Ruth Nichols and Margaret Annaline Lewis. Survivors include, former wife and friend, Sue Mayfield of Athens; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne M. and Vance R. Lingerfelt of Athens; 1 brother, William McKinnley "Bill" Mayfield of Etowah; 2 sisters, Opal Joyce Belcher and Betty Lou Miller both of Etowah; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Jimmy Jackson officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00, Tuesday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service. Randy Belcher, Russell Lingerfelt, Jeff Wolfe, Doug Ezell, Johnny Padgett and Chester Brannon will serve as pallbearers.
