Rual B. Johnson, 89, of Etowah TN passed away Monday December 9, 2019.

He was a son of the late Lester and Barton Grace Johnson.

Preceded in death by his wife, Sarah B. Johnson; son, Bart R. Johnson; daughter, Jennifer Van Donkelaar.

Rual was a Shriner and a Mason; he served in the US Army during the Korean conflict; member of the 278 ^th Armored Cavalry Regiment; He worked as a yard master for CSX Railroad for many years; he was an avid bowler and loved UT college football.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Melanee Johnson of Etowah; grandchildren, Christina Kilburn of Nashville, Matthew Johnson of Etowah, Jessica Johnson of Etowah, Tyler Johnson of Etowah, Bobby Van Donkelaar of Etowah, Allison Van Donkelaar of Knoxville, Ashley Van Donkelaar of Charlotte, Holly Lugo of Ashville, Christiaan Van Donkelaar of Nashville, Ryan Johnson of Etowah; 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Bryan officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 13 ^th at the funeral home and proceed to Coghill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service with Military Honors.
