Ruby Mae Bohannon, 90, of Etowah, devoted mother who walked with the Lord, died early Tuesday morning, June 22, 2010 at Etowah Health Care Center. A native of White Pine an resident of McMinn County all her life, she was a daughter of the late James Holbert and Louisa Haun Arnett. She was retired from Woods Memorial Nursing Home, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Malachi Bohannon; a son, James Ronnie Bohannon; a son-in-law, Paul Hixson; and all of her brothers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susie E. and Tommy Hooper of Etowah; one son, Virgil Wayne Bohannon of Calhoun; one granddaughter and spouse, Mary Elaine and Ray Haas; five grandsons, James Michael Bohannon, Michael Lee Bohannon, Ronnie Lee Bohannon, David Bohannon and Richard Bohannon; and one great-grandson, Michael Dege Bohannon. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in the North Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Blanchette and Dr. Ralph Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at McMinn Memory Gardens at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 24th for the committal service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 219 Co. Rd. 890, Etowah, TN 37331.
