She was born April 1, 1926 in Athens, Tennessee the daughter of the late Harrison and Celia Davis both of Englewood, Tennessee. She was the youngest of 7 siblings. A 1944 graduate of Englewood High School, she was a long time member of North Etowah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, listed above; one daughter, Linda H. Hill; three sisters, Bertha Pettit, Edna King, and Edith Carroll; and three brothers, Pearl Davis, Joel Davis, and twin brother, Ruthford Davis. Survivors include husband, Bob Cockrell of Etowah, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Melissa Cockrell of Englewood, TN; son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Cindy Cockrell of Englewood, TN; and son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Heather Cockrell of Birmingham, AL; grandson and wife, Matt and Karin Hill of Birmingham, AL; grandson, Robby Cockrell of Englewood, TN; granddaughter, Lauren Cockrell of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Noah Cockrell of Englewood, TN; grandson, Alex Cockrell of Birmingham, AL; granddaughter, Danielle Cockrell of Birmingham, AL; granddaughter, Denise Cockrell of Birmingham, AL; great-grandson, Aaron Hill of Birmingham, AL; great-grandson, Nicholas Austin of Birmingham, AL; great-granddaughter, Camryn Hill of Birmingham, AL; sister, Elsie McGinnis of Philadelphia, TN; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, May 25th 2011 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, May 26th, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah, TN, with the Rev Pete Mullins officiating.
