Ruth Jean Booker Rule, 90, of Etowah, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at home surrounded by all her family.

A native of Knoxville, TN she had lived in Etowah most of her life, during which she worked at Donald Rules Drug Store and Rule Furniture Store beside her husband Charlie Rule. She was a graduate of Etowah High School; she also owned a summer Green House for several years, started a Brownie Scout troop that continued through the same Girl Scout Troup. She was an active member of the Etowah Garden Club and her and Charlie were members of the Sugerfooters Square Dance Group for many years. She was an active member of Etowah First Baptist Church where she served on many church committees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Charlie" Rule and son Charles Douglas "Doug" Rule, her parents Oral & Lee Booker, many family members and special friend Margaret Leslie.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Donna Caye Stafford and Vern Redmile and Carole Jean and Dan Moody Lambert of Etowah; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Rule of Etowah. Six grandchildren, Kevin and Dannielle Lambert of Cleveland, Lee and Lisa Rule, Dusty and Shannon Rule, Josh and Lacey Rule of Etowah, Brandon Lambert and Angie Culp of Knoxville and Cory Lambert of Decatur. Eleven great-grand-children, Memphis, Reece and Riley Lambert, Whyatte and Maddox Lambert, Sydney, Carlee and Lincoln Rule, Lindsey & Wes Adams, Ethan Rule and Cove Rule. And a special thanks to her loving caregivers Joyce, Wanda, Tanis and Polly. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 5th in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Fox and Thom Johnson officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at Green Hill Cemetery Saturday, January 6th for the 11:00 a.m. committal service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
