Ruth Dunn Bookout, 93, of Etowah, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at a local health care facility.Preceded in death by her husband, John Taylor Bookout; parents, Reed and Ella Dunn; 1 sister, Nell Ellis; 1 brother, Bill Dunn; Great-grandson, Nathan Saunders. She was the oldest member of Double Springs Baptist Church where she served as a sunday school teacher for over 60 years. She was a Methodist youth fellowship leader for Wesleyanna Methodist Church. A Girl Scout leader from Brownies to Curve Bar Rank, the oldest member of the Claxton Home Demonstration Club for over 60 years, and she was the last president of the Parent Teacher's Organization at Etowah High School. Survivors include,1 daughter, Sue Ann Bookout Glass; 4 grandchildren, Cindy Clark Arnwine, Shane Clark, Holly Clark Saunders and Brittany Glass; 1 sister, Helen Kirk; 9 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Grant and Ansley Arnwine, Weslee and Macey Clark, Lily Saunders, Ryan Sluder, Landon Glass and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 30, 2011, at Double Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Elkins and Steve Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 29, in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home. Interment to follow the service at Double Springs Cemetery.
