Ruth Green Isbill, 90, of Etowah, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Life Care Center of Athens.
A daughter of the late Joe and Hattie Green and preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Isbill, sisters, June McClary and Frances Wear; brother, Joe "Wheeler" Green.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Robin and Greg Cater, Chuck and Kathy Isbill, Betti Gravelle; grandchildren, Carley Price, Jo Bethany Rigas, Shae Tuggle, Paige Dawson, Hailee Stuckey and Jade Michael; great-grandchildren, Tucker Price, Braxton, Hudson and Cullen Michael, Andrew and Holden Starkey, Hunter and Brandt Sutherland; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Mary Ruth Green; and sister, Polly Stanberry.
Mrs. Isbill and her husband were active in the business community, from raising beef and dairy cattle, owning a grocery business, mobile home sales, motel, and car lot to remodeling homes and rental property through the years. During her early married life Mrs. Isbill worked at Miller's Department store and in the Etowah City School System as a Kindergarten and Head Start Teacher. The later part of her career was spent at Happy Daze, a day care center that she owned. Although busy, Mrs. Isbill always made time for others, taking countless meals to families and helping those in need. Family, faith, and friends were precious to her. She was a wonderful mother to her children and "Ninnie" to her grandchildren. Mrs. Isbill enjoyed showing Tennessee walking horses and later in life traveling with Knoxville Tours. She was a faithful member at North Etowah Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2013 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Cater officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Interment will follow service in Green Hill
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Dr. Suite 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Pallbearers will be Steve Green, Mike Stanley, Emory Thomas, Randy Brock, Carl Stedham, and Lacklan Powell.
