Samuel Wallace Arms, Sr. 99, of Delano, TN passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024.
He was born September 9th, 1925 in Apison TN, the son of Rev. W.D. and Robbie Arms.
Like so many of the greatest generation, Wallace was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy from 1943-1946.
He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church, and attended services at a number of Baptist churches over the years, most recently Wetmore and Delano. He worked manufacturing jobs in TN and VA until retiring in the late 80's.
Since retirement he has spent his time doing the things he truly loved spending time with family and working outside, especially with his blueberries. Wallace was not just a hero to our nation; he was a larger than life "living legend" that left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was loved by far too many people to mention by name, and he loved all of us even more in return.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Clara Ruth Arms and Bessie Arms; daughter, Sandra Kay Arms Crye; and son-in-law, Mike Crye; step-daughters, Vickie Patterson and Virginia Smith; sister, Lorene Brown; and Arms brothers, Ernest, Paul, Boyd, Marshel, and Olane.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel Wallace Arms Jr. and Rhonda of Ocoee, S. Wally Arms and Robin of Delano; grandchildren, Timothy Scott Arms and wife, LaRhonda of Plant City, Fl., Sarah Elizabeth Arms Bruns and husband, Timothy Ryan of Raleigh, NC, Zachary Nathaniel Arms and wife, Jess of Allentown, PA, Jacob Andrew Arms and wife, Beka of Delano, Joshua Shane Arms of Knoxville, Rachel Lynn Arms and Hannah Grace Arms of Delano; great-granddaughters, Savannah Cheyenne Arms of Orlando, Fl, and Libby Eleanor Bruns of Raleigh, NC, and great-great grandson, Caleb Scott Arms of Orlando, Fl; brothers, Bill Arms and wife, Rennie of Rogersville and Gene Arms and wife, Joyce of Smyrna; step-daughter, Sula Jenkins and husband, Bobby of Delano; step-grandchildren, Rebecca Patterson, Jamie Patterson, and Laura Ridenour of Lyndhurst, VA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; step-great-great grandchildren; and many beloved friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
