Sandra "Sandy" Moore Cooper, 51, a longtime resident of McMinn County, joined her Heavenly Father on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She had a heart of gold, and nothing pleased her more than to care for others. A native of Chicago, Ill., she was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. She was a daughter of Aileen and the late Leonard Moore. Left behind to cherish her memories are one daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Brad Jones of Charleston; three sons, Jeff Adams of Athens, Justin Turpin of Madisonville, and Nate Cooper of Etowah; her mother, Aileen Moore of Old Fort; two grandchildren, Chloe Jones and Kaysha Adams; one brother and sister-in-law, Evan and Margaret Moore of Athens; two sisters, Susan Snawder of Bristol, and Beverly Bishop of Riceville; a special aunt who was like her second mother, Sue Horstkamp of Virginia; and many other special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday at New Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Coleman officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in McMinn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
