Sarah Lou "Bill" Williams Shultz, 99, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020. She was born and raised near South Liberty Community in McMinn County; born, November 2, 1920 to Walter and Jewell Williams.
She was the third of six children; she graduated from Claxton School, and after she graduated she worked for Mounger's Café on Tennessee Ave. for many years. After two years of high school, she married James Wesley Shultz on September 24, 1939 and moved to Shultz Farm, they were married for 65 years; on October 1, 1939 one week later, was the day electricity and running water came to Shultz Farm. She was a major part of Shultz Farm; she kept the farm record books until her vision began to fail in 2015.
She was saved and baptized under the ministry of Jesse Creasman and was an active member of Double Springs and Goodsprings Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Leatherwood, Therma Armstrong, Lucille Clark, Betty Wade; brother, Johnny Williams; daughter, Wanda June Jones; son-in-law, Jack Leslie.
Survivors include her one son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Cecileia Shultz; son-in-law, Richard Jones; grandchildren, Tim Leslie, Donna Abbey, Cindy Martin, Pat Shultz, Josh Shultz and Russell Shultz; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the workers at Athens Place Assisted Living, NHC, and Starr Regional Health and Rehab Center in Etowah for all the care they provided Mrs. Shultz.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Double Springs Cemetery with Rev. Jack Bryan officiating.
