Shannon Lee Russell, age45,of Athens, TN,passed away Friday, June 19, 2015at Sweetwater Hospital. He was the son of Philip A. Haney and Lollie Haney He was preceded in deathby his father; Philip A. Haney, sister; Stacey Lynn Russell Strickland, grandparents; Bruce and Eliza Haney, Ernest Jones and Betty Stanley.
Shannon was born in Martinsville Indiana and moved to Tennessee in 1983. He was a graduate of McMinn Central High School in 1987 and attended the University of Knoxville for which he studied for a Bachelor degree of English, Language, and literature. He was an avid computer gamer in his later years, in his younger years he enjoyed D & D with his gang of friends. Throughout his life, Shannon had many professions. A few include being an orderly at Woods Memorial Hospital, working for Hospice, and he was a great DJ for Gordo's tavern in its prime. His music choices was loved by everyone, always knew what to play at the right time. He installed security systems for Crime Free USA and ADT Secure Watch. Shannon absolutely loved traveling so it came easy to him. He traveled when he worked for Glamor Magic where he was the photographer. He even was a correction officer for McMinn County Sheriff's Dept. Shannon enjoyed life and was known for it. He loved people and got along with everyone. He took care of his mother and three nephews and adored them and they did him as well.
Survivors include his mother;Lollie Haney,brother; Philip Bruce Haney,sisters; Brandi Shea Russell Rasnake and fiancé Randall Hall andMickey Jo Haney Hardin,nephews; William Joseph Harmon,Ashton Gage Harmon andZebulen Gary Hardin.
Pallbearers will beJustin Bivens, Daniel "Luke" Farr, David Parrott, Dewayne "DJ" Wagoner, Brandon Armstrong, Brandon Farrell. Honorary Pallbearers will beDerek Parrott, Gage Harmon, Will Harmon, Zeb Hardin.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home withPastor Edward Ferrell officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, June 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the south chapel. Intermentwill follow the funeral at Wesleyanna Cemetery on Tuesday.
