Sidney Charles Crossman, III, 67, of Athens, died Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. A native of Brockton Mass., and resident of McMinn County for the past 6 years, he was a son of the late Sidney Charles Crossman II and Betty Hanson Crossman. He was retired from the military serving more than 24 years in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by one brother, David Crossman, and one great-grandson, Gabriel Bourque. Survivors include three daughters, Kim Crossman Dieudonne of Chicago, Ill., Cate Crossman Plauche of Lafayette, La., and Mellissa Crossman Pumphrey of Athens; three grandchildren, Desiree Bourque, D.J. Pumphrey and Kyle Pumphrey; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Crossman and William Crossman, both of Athens; and several nieces, nephews, and assorted other family members.

A private service will be held at a later date.
