Spence Winston Quinn, 90, of Athens, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at his residence.A native of Polk County, he had lived in McMinn County for the pasttwenty years. He was of the Church of Christ faith and worked for General Motors, retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service.He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a son of the late Robert and Katie Quinn. Preceded in death by his sister, Opal Quinn; 2 brothers, Wayne and Austin Quinn. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Margaret Estep Quinn of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Kathy Quinn of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Andree Quinn and Pete Gephart of Athens; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine Kerr, Willie Swafford and Kay Haliburton, all of Cleveland; and three brothers, Roy Quinn of Ohio, Eddie Quinn of Chattanooga, and Billie Quinn of Texas.Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Vincent Castellani officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
