Stanley Ross Barner, 88, of Etowah, TN, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023.
He was born July 29, 1935 in Overton, Texas to the late Cooper Barner and Lucille Teer Barner. Stan graduated from Overton High School and then served four years in the United States Air Force. He later attended and graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a degree in Accounting. He worked at Bowaters for nearly 30 years before retiring.
Stan loved to sing, listening to music, whittling, spending time with family and friends, and anything associated with the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by brothers, William (Bill) Barner, Jack Barner; sister, Linda Barner Dycus; daughters, Laurie Beth Barner and Shannon Barner Beaver; great-grandson, Brayden Bates.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and Joe Ricard of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughters, Jade Hill of Pompano Beach, FL, Kara Peak and husband, Austin of Madisonville, TN; grandson, Jacob Hill of Bayfield, CO; great-grandson, Bailey Bates of Reliance, TN; several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.
Stan was blessed to have many close friends who were considered family. The family would like to recognize and thank Marilyn Hershey Miller, Tracy Brown, Janie Barton, Roger Masingale, Teresa Aderhold, and Mickey and Chasity Croft for the care, comfort, and love they provided so faithfully. Stan loved each one of them dearly and felt blessed to have them in his life.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 13th, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Aaron Pierce officiating. A gathering of friends will follow immediately after the service.
