A native of Etowah, he was a son of Lily and the late L.L. Trew. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from Thomas & Betts after 40 years of service. He was a member of Old Salem Baptist Church, and was a former member of the Englewood Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his father, L.L. Trew; and one sister, Barbara Gardner.

Survivors include his mother, Lily Trew of Etowah; his wife of 37 years, Mary Ann Trew of Etowah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Judi Trew of Etowah, and Clark and Stacy Johnson of Lenoir City; three daughters, Angel Johnson and Sharon Johnson, both of Etowah, and Tracy Trew Moore of Sweetwater; six grandchildren, Jeremy Trew, Taylor Trew, Ashley Johnson, Zack Johnson, Erica Moore and Jordan Moore; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlos and Charlene Trew of Ringgold, Ga., and Roy and Joan Trew of Etowah; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pam and Terry Crump of Etowah, and Diane Hamby of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Kinzel Hooker officiating. Family and friends will assembly at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 2 p.m. burial.

Pallbearers will be Larry Schultz, George "Bud" Bearfield, Lewis Brock Jr., Tommy Brock, Paul Brock and Billy Ray Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Gaston, Pete Pendleton, Amos Brock and Robert Brock.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
